Xiaomi just debuted its powerful in-house Xring O1 processor

Xiaomi has unveiled its first in-house flagship chipset, the Xring O1, positioning itself as a direct competitor to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite. Alongside the new chip, Xiaomi introduced the 15S Pro phone and Pad 7 Ultra tablet, which will be powered by the Xring O1, and a new version of the Watch S4 utilizing another Xiaomi-developed chip.

While not Xiaomi’s first chipset – the company previously released the midrange Surge S1 in 2017 – the Xring O1 represents a significant leap in power. Developed using a second-generation 3nm process, the chipset aims to rival the Snapdragon 8 Elite, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400, and Apple’s upcoming A18 series.

The Xring O1 features a 10-core CPU architecture, exceeding competitors. It incorporates two Cortex-X925 prime cores clocked at 3.9GHz, four performance cores at 3.4GHz, and another four efficiency cores at 1.9GHz. This design is intended to match and surpass the flagship performance offered by competitors, with Xiaomi claiming a robust graphics capabilities.

The chipset’s architecture is said to offer both performance and efficiency. Initial tests and benchmarks suggest competitive scores, though Xiaomi is yet to provide extensive details. The company is confident that the Xring O1 represents a significant step towards greater control over its device’s performance and power consumption.
